— I just want it to end.
Anna smiled for the first time:
—Then you have to go. Now.
Half an hour later the apartment exploded.
The news reported:
“An explosion occurred in an old building in the north of Moscow. Two people died. The cause is being investigated.”
Mikhail and Anna were among the victims.
Alicja left for St. Petersburg. She didn’t give interviews or speak to the media. With the money Mikhail had previously transferred to her account, she opened a small, free clinic – “Anastasia,” named after Anna’s childhood name.
Six months later, she received a letter with no sender. Inside, there was only one sentence:
“You’ve saved more than you think. Continue.”
Next to it, a flash drive. On it, a copy of the “Icarus” dossier. And a list of people living under false names. Some of them in government.
